We needed real time change notification for different departments at a customer. Two different departments have their own device types, but real time change notification settings can be made for all device types from a single place. It is possible to make a different alarm and notify different groups via the Syslog rule,…
So, I'm pretty sure this just stopped working for me, and I confirmed that others have seen this also. In any recent version of Solarwinds, including 2024.2, you can go to "Configuration Management" and start selecting nodes on one page, and then go to another and select some more and it adds that selection to the nodes…
In NCM under Configuration Management and Transfer Status, you can go look at what jobs you did, but nobody else can see them unless their granted NCM Administrator privileges. I'd like to have an option to allow lower end users/groups to view other jobs. I don't think this option should be tied to full admin privs.
Unable to modify Meraki switch configurations and to fetch periodical configuration backups through NCM module as SSH is not enabled on Meraki devices. We want to provide a few limited modifications access to some local IT users for modifying minor changes on Meraki switches with the help of the NCM module in…
I have this marked as a discussion but it's also sort of a question. I'm trying to figure out where baseline management fits into our strategy for configuration standardization. I may be wrong but the way I understand how baselines work is that they are not capable of "iterating" through a configuration to check, for…
Congress set the stage for IT modernization across the federal government by passing the Modernizing Government Technology (MGT) Act, allowing agencies to apply for a loan from the Technology Modernization Fund (TMF) to update their legacy systems. The theory states, with access to TMF funds, agencies can now improve…
Good afternoon! I'm hoping someone can help me with this issue. I select all the nodes that I want to run a script on, execute the script, get the results back. Everything works fine. Then I go back to the config mgmt screen to select more nodes, I select my nodes, execute the script and I get a box that pops up that says…
Currently all config backups are saved within a solarwinds directory. People with no access to the solarwinds server cannot extract that data putting the burden on the administrator to extract the data and send it to the requestor. If there is could be a way where the backup are stored in a directory that's publicly…
I really liked this piece by my SolarWinds® associate Brandon Shopp discussing IT operations management and how automation helps optimize the approach. IT pros lose precious time every day battling menial IT operations management (ITOM) tasks. ITOM covers the things needed to support the network infrastructure delivering…
There’s a revolution underway with application deployment, and you may or may not be aware of it. We’re seeing a move by businesses to adopt technology the large public cloud providers have been using for many years, and that trend is only going to increase. In my previous post on digital transformation, I looked at…
