Hey there,
Last year, the company that I work for split itself into two separate companies. The IT team that split the network and its assets cloned all servers into the new company. This included a cloned copy of NPM and NCM.
The new company purchased new licenses of both programs, but only to stay legal. The applications in the new company weren't installed from scratch. This has created a problem where the serial numbers of both companies NPM/NCM's are now identical.
My question is, are the identical serial numbers really an issue? Would it ever be a problem if either company tried to move its copy to another server and had to generate a license key?
I still have to get Solarwinds to transfer the assets that the new company took with them to a new customer ID and don't really want to until this issue is resolved.
