Getting Started with SolarWinds

Question

Hello! Hope everyone's day is going well!

I am taking over SolarWinds for my company.  We use it a lot and our previous admin left before he could help anyone and show anyone the ropes of it.   As an employee who stepped up for the team and took on a Platform that no one wanted to take on, I am very, very fresh on this software. I don't know much at all about it.  I can barely go through the basic stuff and understand it.

When I go and try to find training videos on Solarwinds, it just becomes specified to Installations, upgrading, and maintenance, but not a 101. Like there are a lot of videos on NPM and such, but is there a basic 101 course of the whole platform?   Youtube has some helpful videos, but I am just trying to get a good overview of it before I dig deep into it.

So the end question I am trying to ask is....    Is there a basic course to follow that doesn't specify to a specific use of the platform?

The use is meant to be dynamic based on the companies needs. Its job is to monitor your infrastructure & alert you or others when stuff isn't working, both proactively and re actively. The good news is you're just monitoring it and (for the most part) you can't break anything so it is low stress. Download a copy of the NPM admin guide and go through it. It will then soon all fall into place. Solarwinds is a relatively easy monitoring solution to master.
