Engineer's Toolset
Bulk change interface bandwidth setting
dspringer
In Network Performance Monitor is there a way to change the bandwidth settings for all interfaces of a particular type (like FastEthernet or GigabitEthernet)? I have over 1000 FastEthernet interfaces that were discovered at 10Mb bandwidth, so I'm getting those erronious over 100% useage messages. So far most of the Gigabit interfaces were detected with the correct bandwidth setting, but I'm not about to go and manually reset the settings for over 1000 switchports.
This seems to only have happened on the Cisco Catalyst 3560 switched we have. The 2950 switches have the correct bandwidth settings detected.
I should also mention that I have no fear of going in and modifying the database directly if need be. Whatever the solution may be I'm sure it's easier than manually modifying 1000+ entries.
Thanks!

You can edit the DB directly using the Orion database manager app.
Have a look at these posts:

As per the last post, you most shutdown the Orion service while doing the update & then restart it when done.

Thank you for the information. Unfortunately I am not running Orion, I'm using the NPM from the Engineer's Toolkit (we are contemplating the purchase of Orion, but at this time this is the best I've got). Since I'm not running SQL I do not think the solutions you provided will work. Can the db in the Engineer's Toolkit version be directly modified or am I out of luck?

You might be able to do this with MS Enterprise SQL manager.
I have not had much experience with NPM or managing the DB.
There are also other posts in this forum on managing the NPM DB.

Derrick,
The NPM database is actually an access file so as long you close down NPM, you could edit it in Access 2000 or above.
Just make sure to take a backup before you do though!!

Awesome, thanks for the tip. Going to have to give that a try.
