SSH Problems
usac
I am having problems download configs using SSH. The problem doesn't show any pattern. I can run the job several times in a row and get different results every time. For instance, on the first run, a device may download the startup and running configs fine, but on the second run, it will get "Connection Refused". Often it is inconsistent on the same job, e.g. able to download the startup config but "Connection Refused" when trying to get the running config. Most of the time, the error is "Connection Refused", however sometimes I get "Cannot Log into Enable Mode 0 : bad enable password" I have tried adjusting the telnet timers, as suggested by SolarWinds support, but that had no effect. The problem seems to go away when I switch from SSH to Telnet, however, I cannot completely confirm this because I cannot switch all my devices to telnet, and the problem does not usually occur when using SSH to get the configs for a single device. As soon as I try a few devices using SSH on the same job, it comes back. Anyone else having problems like this or any suggestions on what to try? Thanks.

Join the club. This is an issue with Cirrus and Solarwinds has been unable to reproduce the issue. There is nothing that we have done that resolves the issue. The problem seems to stem from a combination of SSH and server load. I can confirm that the issue doesn't occur with telnet, as not a single one of our telnet devices shows the problem. Ever.

I had a somewhat similar problem. My resolution was under each node, under the Communication Heading, set the Device Command Template to Cisco IOS. The ones that were blank I could not SSH into, but could telnet.
HTH.

I have the same problem from time to time on different devices. No rhyme or reason. But when I go into the App and do a validate login it works fine. I'm stumped.
