Orion in multiple locations

Question

Would like to know if Orion can be setup in the following manner.

Full Orion Poller with DB in multiple locations.

Master DB which gets updates from regional instances of Orion DB.

This is to satisfy a request from a Regional office.

I would prefer to use multiple pollers. however, web response across the WAN is slow.

Additonally, does anyone have performance results for a Remote Poller with a Remote Web Server on the same system, communicating across the WAN to the Orion DB.

Both Version 7 and Version 8 numbers would be great.

When I had asked a similar question a couple of years ago (v7) since I wanted to put a poller in an office 30 miles from our main office, I was told that there would be issues with the database maintaining sync with both the poller and the web server. Still, I would be interested in this type of layout as we have a similar layout - home offices with several regional offices - worldwide.
