I wish I could quantity the number of complex network issues solved by two or ten people standing in front of a whiteboard turning their thoughts into pictures. Whiteboards are, in every sense of the word, remarkable.

I agree, but to comment on acmtix comment. The whiteboard is for working out problems and if that information is to go further, or be retained for documentation it really should be put into Visio or some such application by someone that knows how to us it. But I have had people draw pretty much useless diagrams and come to me and say "this is what I want."
I once worked with an engineer who incorporated Post-it notes ON a Whiteboard, which made changing priorities and task completion so much easier.
