I might be missing something here but is there a way to get NCM to alert you if a device goes out of compliance I know i can have some one look at the reports but would like to be able to alert on it via email etc.

Yes it can. Open the NCM application, and go to Schedule -> Create new job. Select Generate a Policy Report. From here you can specify in the job details under the "Policy Report" tab to "Send Notifications only when Policy Violations are present". You can then choose which policy to report on, and choose to email the report via the Notifications tab.
