Suppress multiple email alerts via the number of recent Events

I would like a method of suppressing multiple emails alerts. I've read a few of the threads on creating custom properties to define tiers and large numbers of site-based alerts, but am wondering if a simpler solution is possible that is not alert or site-specific. Can we define an alert suppression such that the email action will not occur if multiple events (regardless of type) have been logged during the last 2 minutes? Instead, a separate alert would be configured to trigger if multiple events have occurred during the past 2 minutes, and just include those events in the body of the email. How can I configure triggers and suppressions based on the number of recent events in the Event Log?

Hi,

The Advanced Alert wizard does not provide any fields to select Events.

I suggest you post your request in the Orion NPM Feature Request forum. Product Manager keep a close eye on the feature requests coming there.

As an alternative, there is an unsupported way to bypass the limitations of the wizard thus letting you configure whatever you want in the Trigger,Reset and Suppression queries:

Thanks. I read that post previously and decided to pursue a different path. Because Orion does not provide much flexibility with reporting multiple events in consolidated emails, I am not using Orion Alerts for node/interface up/down emailing, though I am still using them to trigger other actions if necessary. For emailing up/down events, I've written a SQL stored procedure that is called every 2 minutes that sends a single email listing the up/down events that have occured during the past 2 minutes. When we have power outages and WAN failures, it's much nicer getting a single email listing the 50 nodes that are down instead of 50 emails. Same thing when the nodes are reachable again...
