Will solarwinds allow for discovery on devices that are not workstations, servers, and things as such? If so how would discover them and what setting do I use to discover them?
Thanks
Are you referring to network devices such as switches and routers? If so yes. As long as the device responds to a ping via it's IP, and has SNMP capabilities, SolarWinds should be able to talk to it. Again, though, it's going to depend on what type of endpoint you are looking at discovering.

No, these are not network devices but badge scanners and card swipes.
they would have to have an IP address and respond to SNMP
From the NPM homepage, go to 'settings->Network Sonar Discovery'
The Network Sonar Wizard will display. On the SNMP credentials page, enter all the known SNMP credentials for the devices you want to discover. You can repeat this action.
Once added, 'Next' through all the other selection options as appropriate (VMWARE, add to NCM or Windows credentials) and then define your network ranges under the Network selections.
