excessive interface notifications

Question

I get a LOT of these notifications in the orion main page from various ports on my procurve switches:

ProCurve 5406zl #1-A23- Configured Interface Speed changed from 100000000 to 1000000000 bps

they are not useful to me - is there any way to supress them?

Yeah I think that is it - except in my case it is workstations shutting down, the port speed drops, then in the morning i see all these ports come back up to 100 or 1000 MB.

.....So looks like i need to set the each port speed manually if i want to clean this up. Bummer.

Are these ports set to autoconfigure? We've seen some switches report a speed of 10 MB for autoconfigure ports when nothing is plugged in. You plug something in and it autoconfigures for 100 or 1000 MB. You unplug it and it goes back to 10 MB. Noisy.
