Can we pull tuning data from Solarwinds DPA using the API

Question

Are there any plans to allow the pulling of tuning data from the API. For example, the pulling information from the index advisors, query advisors and/or table advisors from the Tuning tab?

Okay, thank you. I'll raise a feature request. I'll look into querying the backend as a possible alternative but not going to make it a mission, I've see the schema before 😁

Hi @OzVegan,

Short answer: not currently.

The public DPA REST API is primarily focused on administrative and management automation (registering/licensing instances, starting/stopping monitoring, annotations, user permissions, etc.), so it doesn't currently expose endpoints to pull recommendations from the Tuning tab (Query, Table, or Index Advisors).

A couple of things to keep in mind:

* Repository Queries (Workaround): Some DBAs pull data directly from the DPA repository database. While the advisor tables and metrics are in there, the schema is complex and SolarWinds doesn't officially support or guarantee schema stability across upgrades, so handle with caution if you go that route.
* Feature Request: Exposing tuning and advisor metrics via the API is a popular ask, especially as teams build out automated reporting and integration pipelines. If you haven't already, definitely post (or upvote) this in the Database Performance Analyzer Feature Requests space on THWACK. The product managers monitor that section closely when prioritizing upcoming API roadmap items.
