Best SolarWinds approach for monitoring website availability and intermittent performance issues

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for recommendations on monitoring a public-facing website for an academic consultant business.

We provide academic guidance and related services through our website, and I’d like to make sure students and visitors can access the site reliably. I’m particularly interested in using SolarWinds to monitor website availability, response time, HTTP/HTTPS errors, and SSL certificate expiration.

For example, I’m looking at monitoring seemab consultants ltd and would appreciate advice on whether SolarWinds SAM or another SolarWinds Platform component would be most suitable.

What would be the recommended approach for monitoring an academic consultant website, especially for detecting intermittent downtime or slow response times?

Hmm…   That's one approach, but the first one I'd look at is Web Performance Monitor which you can configure to do simple monitoring, or even more complex monitoring like doing transactions on your website.  I think its a module you can add on now if you're self-hosting.  Although, if your SAAS, you can configure up the Website Monitoring, which I think is similar..

If you don't want to get into the full Solarwinds ecosystem though, or if you want something from an external perspective, Pingdom is probably what you would want.     Then you can monitor your external facing website from different parts of the world even, to see how available it is from different places.
