Time Zone Selection in SolarWinds

Hi All,

We are building SolarWinds newly in our environment , we are planning to use sqlmi in Azure which we will go with UTC zone in UK and failover will be in US.

The polling engine are also based in UK and US so in this case which timezone we should follow ? UTC for all SQLMI ,polling engine and APE.

Because the polling engines which sits on UK and US has its own time zone.

Kindly suggest .

It is best to have all engines on the same time as the SQL DB. If i'm not mistaken, Azure Managed Instance forces UTC.

The web console does translate a lot to the local time of the browser, but it isn't perfect. We are working on slowing fixing that in-product.

If you find that there are certain pages where this does not translate correctly, and these pages are critical to your operational processes, then send me a DM (or tag me here) the URL to those pages. We're working on prioritizing pages.

To the best of my knowledge time zones on your SolarWinds pollers and SolarWinds Database should always be the same, so decide on one particular timezone no matter where your servers are and keep all of them in a particular zone. If your database server uses UTC then make sure to use the same on your UK and US Pollers.

Check for Time zone alignment in the below link, it clearly states if time zones are not same it can cause misleading or incorrect timestamps on polled data.
