Autodrawn links don't go red when switches are down in Orion Maps

Is there a way to make the links go red when the devices are down? In the image below you can see the 2 devices on the left are both down but yet the link between them remains green.

Yes, but it depends on how the link was created and what object is driving the link status.
In SolarWinds , a link does not automatically turn red just because the nodes at each end are down. The link color is determined by the interfaces assigned to that connection, not necessarily the node status. If no interface status is mapped to the link, it can remain green even when both devices are down

It's an auto generated link. Are you saying I should manually create all the links between devices and then they will go red if the device is down?

No, the connection remaining green even when both devices are down may be expected behavior for a topology-based link. Reviewing the connection details will help determine whether the map is showing a topology relationship or an interface/status-driven connection.

In atlas this just worked. I've now got links just disappearing when they are down instead of going red.

I just did a test. One where I let it autodraw the link and another where I hid the auto drawn link and drew in my own. I then turned off the device and both maps ended up looking identical like this

99% of the auto-generated links we have/had are interfaces. If the node is down, then the interface will also be down, and as such, the map should depict that. Network Atlas behaved that way, so why would a newer product from the same company not behave the same way?

No answer actually required - mapping in Solarwinds has long been a bugbear of mine and the latest iteration: "Intelligent [hah] Maps" are far from being intelligent. I still have a bullet point list of >30 items that don't work as they should which I presented the Top 15 a few years back to various PM's. It doesn't help that PM's come and go.

Maybe 3 or 4 of those have actually been addressed now.
