Serial Numbers

Need SolarWinds database field names to pull hardware serial numbers for HP switches, Ruggedcom industrial switches, and Check Point firewalls. Cisco works using Service Tag, but the other three vendors show up blank. I need this for a custom report

Any help with this will be highly appreciated, Thanks in advance

The serial number is not being populated because the device may not expose it through standard SNMP ENTITY-MIB OIDs, or the configured SNMP credentials may not provide access to the required inventory data. Since SolarWinds relies on SNMP to collect serial numbers, service tags, and model information, any values not available through standard polling must be retrieved using a Universal Device Poller configured with the appropriate vendor-specific OID

Download a MIB decoder and run the MIB for the device through it. If the Serial Number is data that can be collected via SNMP the OID will be in there. Use a custom poller to get it.

And even with Cisco it might not be that straight forward :), if you have a Cisco stack switch the Service Tag doesn't help as there could be multiple physical switches on the same stack and serial numbers are obviously different as it's a different piece of hardware. Hence there isn't a straightforward approach to this, you might need to pull up data from multiple tables within SolarWinds. Hope this helps :)

The HardwareHealth tables are better for it, we set up a search using this query using a "resource" on a page. Works pretty well.

@naveensingh43 thanks for your help. I was able to find the OIDs for those devices and create a UnDP for them. I was then able to pull the serial numbers from Custom reports

For Cisco and Juniper devices on my network, I can find the serial numbers from the service tag OID, which then has a database value. For many of my other vendor devices, I built universal custom poller for those devices. I then created a node custom property which is populated with an alert that pulls the value form that custom poller or service tag value.

You could then pull a device inventory report and include the serial number custom property.
