Normaly we got users with some "- " for administrative purpose. In Kiwi NG i'm not able to add users with "-" in username. ( e.g. kiwi-adm ) Why?
Hello @ralf_krueger ,
You are correct that local users in Kiwi Syslog Server NG do not currently support special characters in the username field. In testing, usernames with special characters are rejected by the product validation.
As of Kiwi Syslog Server NG 2026.2, the product now supports LDAP/LDAPS authentication with Active Directory group-based authorization. If your environment can use AD/LDAP, this may provide a practical workaround by allowing users to authenticate with directory-backed accounts instead of relying on local usernames.
At this time, I’m not aware of a product change that adds special-character support for local usernames specifically. We do have this feedback documented internally, and I’m happy to add your request to help reinforce the need for improvement.
I hope the new added LDAP functionality can resolve your current issue.

OK, very good to know that LDAP doesn't have this problem. I didn't want to try without being sure.
