SEM Dashboard-Segregate servers of one type (OS)

We have SEM setup for lot of servers, say about 300 servers/hosts.

I want to create a new dashboard in which I want to have only few selected servers/hosts, say ten (10) servers/hosts of only one application. I want to have a separate dashboard for Linux servers.

Is it possible? Any documentation?

As far as I can tell there isn't a way to filter everything down to tell the dashboard itself to only contain data for your linux servers.

However, the dashboards are made up of widgets. The widgets are based on filters. The filters can be…well…filtered on a variety of different things so if I can find something that will help me identify specific servers I can use that to limit what shows up in a given filter. In my case, all of my Windows machines start with L1 so I can use that.

As an example, here I went to the Live Events tab and then I made a filter. To define the filter I went into Event Groups, and on the left column I clicked on "Service Audit Alerts", then I dragged the DetectionIP field from the second column over to the right side (when dragging it over to the right, make sure that you drag it around until you see it represented as a blue line - that's where it will actually 'drop' it):

then, as you can see i put some text in there on the right side of that entry to limit what this filter will "catch". So, basically what we are seeing there is basically:
In this filter only show me Service Audit Alerts where the DetectionIP field is referencing one of my nodes that has a name starting with L1 (if you can't see it well, that is an asterisk after L1 in that entry).

Once I save the filter I can see it on the left under "user-created" :

Now when i go to that filter and select a time range for it, it does show some data:

OK, so we're most of the way there!

Next, I'll create a new dashboard and I'll just name this one Test1.
Then I will edit that dashboard and click "Add Widgets" on the upper right.
When prompted I will choose "New Proportional Widget" then click "Customize".
In the "Filter and Property" section I will tell it to base this widget on the ServiceName field.

Once I save it, I now have a widget on my dashboard:

Now, as stated before, the dashboard itself isn't configured to only show me my servers with names starting with L1, but that widget is. If I create any other widgets for this particular dashboard, I would likely filter them in a similar way.

Does this all make sense for you? Any other questions about it?
