How to do platform connect without a SaaS license - AI Agent

Greetings Everyone -

We upgraded to all the subscription services for Solarwinds and I was trying to figure out how to use platform connect for the AI Agents on Observability Self-hosted. All the instructions I could find on the Solarwinds site mention connect to your SaaS solarwinds software but they do not mention what to do if you do NOT have SaaS software.

Not sure if this is needed but the account I used to connect to platform connect is one of my Solarwinds service accounts that is mail enabled.

Just in case anyone else was confused like me it is really simple.

Go to Settings > All Settings in Observability
Open Platform Connect Settings at the bottom of the Settings Page
I selected US-East
For email I put in the mail enabled service account.
Hit Next a few times
Installed Agent
I am now able to do some basic AI questions in Observability

Do not check any of the boxes that will enable SaaS or give you a 30 day trial.

I set this up in our Lab and not production yet. Once I get DPA and Observability updated I will be working on connecting them for some basic AI fun.

I am using HCO Orion, It is asking me for a token no for EAST US. Is it the same process for HCO Orion and Observability without SaaS ? Thank you

@obaid.rahman , the AI Agent requires you to be on version 2026.1 or newer. The wizard for Platform Connect was simplified in that version . It should ask "create a token" or "I have a token". The create a token only asks for the cloud region and email.

I would recommend upgrading to the latest version, 2026.1.1 as of this post.

As a side note, version 2026.2 will be released on June 9th, 2026 and will include more enhancements to the AI Agent.

Where do we find this token? I hooked up our Observability and would like to connect DPA and our Lab but I need a token to connect and everything says to login to SaaS to get the token but we are not running SaaS.

You would need to log into the SolarWinds Cloud with the same email used when Platform Connect was configured.

If you don't know that email address, you'll need to contact support.

Once logged in, navigate to Settings > API Tokens. You'll need to generate a new API token for DPA.
