Building SolarWinds in Azure

Hi Team,

We are planning to install SolarWinds in azure setup whether i can use the existing marketplace images or we can use the build a VM and install the software's ?

Which is recommend for long term management including App upgrade and LCM of servers ?

We just built Windows VMs and installed the software. Manually build SQL cluster for the backend. Pay attention to the server and port requirements and you shouldn't have an issue. For app upgrades you make sure the VM is backed up, then snapshot the OS disk and do the upgrade. For Windows patching use the Azure Update Manager and/or Hotpatching.

@thangaselvi - have you consulted SolarWinds vendor? I agree with my fellow thwackers with their response. But do you know the difference between marketplace image vs BYOL (Bring your own license)?

Talk to the vendor check if it does provide a significant difference in costing and then decide.

I could be wrong but there sure is a license cost difference between the 2 approaches.
