Currently the ICON list in NTM is limited. Can more ICONS be added to for more devices, or add the ability to add our own ICONS to represent items.

Kurt, based on your recent comments on the NTM v2.2 beta1, I take it this idea was a request for more node roles and the associated icaons, not just more icons and custom icons. Is that right or is my prior interpretation right?

Yes it is a request for more node roles and associated icons. I think The current icons and node roles are good but limited. Even if you add the option where we can specify our own and the icons to go with them it would work. Since everyone's environment is different it may be best for us to add our own node roles and their associated icons.

Custom node roles and custom icons may not be that difficult to get setup. The missing piece is identification though. I can think of two solutions:

No automatic identification. You would have to manually change nodes to a custom node role.
Require you to input a SysOID as the way to identify a device fitting into a node role.

Is 1 good enough? Do you need 2? Or do you have another suggestion?
