The wireless heatmaps currently only support Cisco Wifi controllers, can we have some support for the Ruckus Zone directors in them plz
how about support for more than just cisco?! Meraki's, Rukus, and heck every other darn wireless ap out there.
Why offer this product if you are going to limit it to one vendor?
It's a pretty big tease that SolarWinds is offering such a powerful feature to one market. We recently powered off our Cisco WLC's and migrated to a Ruckus system, and now there's a competition to win a tropical vacation*!
*Cisco users only
Ruckus is more bang for you buck, and has a strong development team behind it. NO reason to get Cisco
Another Vote from a Rukus user. Had some issues, but would really like to see Heatmaps for other APs then just Cisco. I know it requires development, and managing APIs, Maybe a Survey to see what are the top managed APs is needed to help prioritize which ones need to be adopted first.
Absolutely.
Was gutted to get my map all ready and scaled, get it up onto Atlas, and then no support for Ruckus!
You already took away my nice application interface for NCM, now there's only the web interface. Now no Ruckus support for for the heat maps which were my reason to upgrade!
Not happy. C'mon Solarwinds.
Is any one aware of any commitment from Solarwinds to get support from Ruckus?
I'll also add for anyone who is interested in this that Ruckus now has the ZoneDirectors and has SmartZone controllers including the virtual SmartZone controller, which has a different set of MIBs, but is catching up to the ZoneDirectors in features and usability fairly quickly. As a virtual SmartZone user, I'd be thrilled to have Solarwinds do heatmaps with Ruckus vSZ information.
Any update on this feature request please? We are having POC, and ruckus controllers will be monitored. It would be great if we can present this as well. Appreciate any feedback. Thank you.
Bump for the SmartZone controller.
cstave, how's your polling going for the virtual SmartZone controller? Our vSZ controller just shows the APs as always online regardless of their true status....
james.davidson -- sadly we have sort of put the vSZ in the category of "things SW doesn't do nicely" and aren't throwing a lot of effort at it, especially since the vSZ itself does a pretty good job at showing the status of things -- fingers crossed for Ruckus/Brocade to get support / lend a hand / make some SNMP improvements that make it nice and easy.
Thanks cstave.
Just an FYI from my side. I ended up importing the "Ruckus VS100 poller" which gets us close but it can't see the real status of these APs. The frustrating part is that if you create a Universal Device Poller for OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.25053.1.4.2.1.1.2.2.1.16 we can actually see that NPM can detect the AP status. The problem lies in the fact you can't force the "Wireless Thin AP" resource to use this Poller (and therefore are not able to create an alert based on it)
Solarwinds support has shrugged the issue off and told me to request a feature update for the Ruckus VS100 poller. But to be honest i'm not sure where that poller even came from/who created it. I can see that withy14 posted it back in March here Ruckus VS100.poller, but I suspect it was created by someone doing the community a favour, and not by either Solarwinds or Ruckus!
I have one or two senior contacts within Ruckus that could potentially help us. But I'm not 100% clear on what I'm asking for. If you had any pointers I think I can, at the very least, make a lot of noise with them! :-)
Hi,
I can check the OID and I might be able to update the poller accoridng it. Is that OK with you? Please also note that by the time I had created the poller I really Had only small portion of information so providing this OID is huge help. If you have some MIB reference guid (not MIB files but PDF with the OIDs and some dexplanation) or something like that I might be able to enhance the poller even more depending on the information you require. Also it might occur that VS (Virtual Smartzone) firmware gained this functionality after I have made the poller because by the time I created it there was no mention of AP status. I have done searching only via SNMPwalk file and free OID database because many vendors just don't update the OID tree as they should.
Regards,
Withy14
You have my vote!
Friday bump!
wabbott who do I need to talk to in order to assist with the implementation of this? I'd be more than willing to be a point person for SolarWinds to test or develop support for the ZoneDirectors.
Hi nickzourdos! I'll put your name on the list of people to contact for this one.
Wow, we just added NPM, our Cisco Controller is working, very disappointed that Ruckus Virtual SmartZone controller not working!!
Please add this feature also for RUCKUS
Really time to support APs and Controllers other than Cisco. The Cisco focus gets tiring.
Bump for 2020. Is it possible to include this into the roadmap?
