Advanced Alert issue

Hi,

Can someone help with the below alert?

What it should do is trigger the alert when the machine type is 'Windows', VolumeType is 'Fixed Disk', Volume Percent Used is greater or equal to 80% BUT if the NodeName contains VMW or SQL it should not trigger the alert.

The alert is triggering fine but it's like it is not reading the 'Ignore VMW & SQL' part as we receive alerts for servers containing these words, is this alert set out right?

My two posts are either/or. Either do my first suggestion, or the second, but not both.

The first one is a better solution though.

Unfortunately, adding "Not All" will give the following:

AGI-VMW-P-JIRA will NOT alert.

AGI-VMW-SQL-P-JIRA will alert

AGI-SQL-P-JIRA will NOT alert

Do you have anything in the reset & supression tabs?

I would look at the Nodes table and look at the SysName value directly, and also check the SQL to look for any spelling weirdness. Perhaps there are non-standard chars, or spaces somewhere etc.

Reset Condition is - Reset when trigger conditions are no longer true.

Alert Supresssion is blank. Below is the alert it is one of the alerts it is currently generating but shouldn't because it has 'VMW' in it's name.

As above, plus you might try the inverse as well:

> Node name does not contain VMW

> Node name does not contain SQL

Change "none", to "not all"...

Basically, the AGI-VMW-P-JIRA does not match the exclusion because node name has to match both VMW and SQL to be excluded when you use "none."

AGI-VMW-P-JIRA will alert.

AGI-VMW-SQL-P-JIRA will NOT alert

AGI-SQL-P-JIRA will alert

If I may interject... I think he is saying to use"ANY" and "does not contain". Using the "none" or "not all" are typically problematic for us mortals. It is best to stick with "all" and "any" where possible. Let us know if that does the trick.
