This seems like common sense, but would be good if this could be automated.
Pause at the start of a Platform Upgrade and Resume when ALL SolarWinds servers are on the same version.
I just check this box when I was doing an upgrade and then turn it off when the upgrade was complete.
So do we all, but wouldn't it be nice if it happened automagically?
But what about HA builds? I think the biggest issue isn't "when do we turn it off," it's "when do we turn it back on?"
We have customers with HA builds and tend to pause until the upgrade is fully completed. If the centralised upgrade is used, having an action that pauses the alerts as part of the upgrade process would make a lot of sense.
Agreed... BUT when does it know to "un-pause" it? When just the Primary Polling engines are updated? When all the APE's are updated? When the Web Front Ends are updated? When everything is updated? This is the crux (INHO).
I'd probably say when everything has been updated. Certainly, if we're performing an upgrade for a customer, we wouldn't confirm with them that everything is completed until all servers have been updated. And only then would we resume the alerting.
