Mask/Hide Node IP Address

Our organization would like to have the option to mask/hide a Node’s IP Address. We need to be able to share a NOC view with 3rd party vendors, so they may monitor the UP/DOWN status of devices (Nodes) without exposing our network information.
These devices are on our PCI network, so exposing the IP Address information to external users is a security risk.

We understand we can customize user access to specific entity types and summary views in a way that prevents users from navigating to specific entities. However, the user can still see the information via entity hoovers (see below):

This is an interesting idea. Is the request specific to Orion's World Wide Map feature only or general hovers used throughout Orion? Is I.P address the only detail which needs to be hidden or would a per-user based, full hover on/off toggle for all entities also work?

Have you considered using alternative resources such as a custom table to display the required node information? This quick example has the caption, status, and link to the node but does feature any hovers.

Hi Tony - Yes, IP Address is the only detail that needs to be hidden. If the entity hovers could be managed at the user/role level, so that IP Address and the link to "Show more custom properties" were removed, that would fulfill the need. Everything else could be managed with views.

I do not believe disabling hovers all together will work due to our size. We have thousands of sites and monitor several devices at each site. Therefore as you can imagine our map is quite full. We utilize the hovers often to understand up/down status of sites and areas.

I'm not familiar with the alternative resource approach. I assume this would allow us to limit access to device properties by managing access to the Details URL/Link? If this approach means disabling all hovers, I'm not sure it will work for the above mentioned concerns. However, understanding our concerns, if you still think this a viable option I am open to discussing/reviewing.

My suggestion was to consider using a resource such as a custom table, rather than a worldwide map. This would allow you to choose the columns and display the node status without any hovers similar to the screen-shot in my last comment. Although from what I can infer given the number of sites you have this may not be very suitable.
