Where are all the places to reset a service account in SAM that affects WMI monitoring?
Not sure if I understand your question because its a one liner but, you can reset the password on Active Directory and edit the credential here https://SWServer/Orion/Admin/Credentials/CredentialManager.aspx
So, We have changed the password here:
Are you inheriting credentials from the node or are you using a separate set of creds?
Now , we monitor nodes (windows workstations). There are many of them. How to change the password for the service account for these?
Yes, we are inheriting credentials from the node. The service account password is used on anything in windows WMI.
Change the password on Active Directory, then update the credential with the new password on Solarwinds.
What are all the places to update the service account?
I will provide some screen shots
Here and where I mentioned but I think they are the same thing. There shouldn't be anywhere else to update the credential.
How to see that all the nodes (windows AIOs in this case) get the new password update? That is my question really
you got it
How do the 312 windows servers get the update? What steps are taken to update each of the 312 windows workstations?
I know we are doing each one manually.
If each service account is unique you will need to reset(on AD) and update(on SW) each service account individually. I am assuming that the Windows servers are all domain connected, the domain controller sends the updates to the servers so they know about the new password.
The service account uses the same password for each node. So are you sayin g this?
1. Update the password on the main solarwinds server
2. Update the password in the credential library
Then there is nothing else to update as the nodes will get them?
Solarwnd1 - are you using an Active Directory account for WMI or are you using local windows workstations accounts?
The service account is a domin service account. Does that help?
Go to Manage windows credentials, update the new password there. It will handle everything.
