Node Views and Dependencies

Question

We have way to many Views in our system and I'd like to clean them up. But I don't want to clean things up until I know which ones are not being used. Is there a way to see what Views are being used by what devices (nodes)? I've been playing around with SQL relationships, but can't find a way to join these tables together. I also could not find a way to build a report on this.

Yeah, it appears people have copied views and haven't used them. Were discussing rebuilding the cluster from the ground up. So that will help us in the future. Sorry there is no resolution to this for anyone reading it in the future.

So if I understand correctly, you can see which views are used as a specific node view by going to Settings, All Settings, "Views by Device Type". that will list out each view that is used specifically as a view for a particular node type (windows, wireless access point, etc).

The only other thing I can think of is that you want to know if any user has a view set as the default for a particular summary type (which you'd do when you edit an account and change things like "Home Page View", "Default Summary View", "Application Summary View" (for SAM), "NCM Summary View" (for NCM, obviously), etc.

In that case, you can get the views used by doing exactly that: just edit the users - or if you are using AD Groups, the group that each logged in user is set from - and list the views being used.

While I'm sure there's a query that one could create for that, this seems like a one-time job and it doesn't warrant the hassle of testing the query, writing it into a report, etc.

I'm trying to figure out which Nodes are either 1) statically using certain views or 2) is being used as a default or other usage.

We have like 100's of views that it looks like people have copied and never cleaned up. I want to delete as many views as I can, but I dont want to mess up node views. Just trying to do my due diligence before I start deleting views.
