Polling for node up/down using only SNMP (no ICMP/ping)

Question

I need to be able to see the up/down status of nodes in NMP using just SNMP (the devices we are monitoring allow SNMP but no ICMP/ping). I've seen in a number of old posts this has been slated for a future release however no confirmation when it will happen. Any ideas when?

nickosborn, unfortunately we have not added support for this yet. You are absolutely correct that this is a long standing request and we need to add support for it. It's not something we are actively working on in NPM 10.3, but it's high on our list of community requested features we would like to address.
