Additional Web Servers session state sharing

Question

We have 2 additional web servers that we split between data centers. Is there a way to have session sharing between the 2. What our users experience is: if they log in to one of the web servers and then after some time they get redirected to another web server via DNS rotor, they get 'session timeout' error and have to re-establish their session.

Without knowing the load-balancing solution you’re employing.. I believe some if not most load-balancing solutions have some sort of sticky session configuration. E.g if you start a session with webserv1, the session remains tagged to that server for the duration of the session.

Yes, that is correct. They are being load balanced with round-robin. The problem with it is both servers not sharing sessions state. So, if a load balancer sends you to a web servers other than the one you originally established your session with, you'll get a session timeout. Hence, I was trying to figure out a way to do session sharing between 2 additional web servers.

So if I’m understanding correctly, you have (2) additional web servers that are sharing a dns vIP or alias perhaps like round-robin style?

Specifically for the additional web servers SolarWinds leaves it up to the customers to design high-availability and/or load-balancing with these. I’ve seen many folks use load-balancers to achieve this (F5s, NetScaler etc.)...
