Alert based on % of node failures in a group

Question

Hi all,

First time poster, I've looked back in the forums but cant find anything that comes close to what I'm looking to achieve.

If I have a group of 40 nodes (remote network routers), I only want to alert if more than 25% of them have gone down. Is this possible?

Really appreciate any pointers in this.

I'm pretty sure this is not possible.  The only thresholds I'm aware of for Groups are under the Advanced properties of the group itself, "Status Rollup."  And you only have 3 choices: Show best, Show worst, or mixed (the default).  And the only alerts you can really configure are the "out-of-the-box" down or warning/critical.

Thinking outside the box...you have 40 remote routers, do you not have an alert setup in case any one remote router drops?  I'm just thinking in terms of traditional monitoring and alerting at the places I've worked, and I always need to be "Johnny on the Spot" in case any site drops, not a group of them.  But then, I don't know your environment, so my "pointers" are only from my own experience.

Also, have you investigated using dependencies and alerts based on those?  That might help you also.
