Orion v9 New Feautes

The link to the new features in version 9 is not working anymore. Any way to get it back? I know that the Custom MIB poller was overhauled to allow custom tables (yeah!) but I was curious at to what other goodies are coming.

There are lots of smaller features, but the two main features are these:

We "retired" the Custom MIB Poller so that we could replace it with a completely new tool, the Universal Device Poller. The Universal Device Poller polls MIB Tables (or really columns, in tables). You can "Transform" data by converting single values (e.g., Celsius to Fahrenheit) or by combining data from multiple columns in a MIB table or different columns in different tables.
We have added the ability to add, delete, and modify nodes from the web console. The web console also allows you to assign custom properties to a node or interface, and assign existing universal device pollers to nodes. You can now edit multiple nodes at once.

Will this still require a study of OIDs to use? Or, will SolarWiinds be granting the Orion user a simpler tool to acquire monitorable data?
Honestly, I don't find the current system "friendly".

If by maintenance interval, you mean "unmanage", then yes, you can unmanage and re-manage via the web console. The new custom poller is definitely easier, but you still have to know OIDs or MIBs. I'm not crazy about that fact, but that's the nature of SNMP.

This sounds great! I know V9 is in beta now, any idea (ballpark) when it will ship? I've got lots of projects coming up between now and the end of the year, and I'd like to include an Orion upgrade in them :-)

I to will be wanting to migrate o Ver 9 when released.

It would be nice if Solarwinds would make more information available on there website about future releases of all there software.

No mater how hard I have looked over the years, how do you get copies of there BETA version to test and evaluate, this really would make my job eaiser to sell to mangement about keeping up with the times. I find doing the home work really does pay off.

We updated some icons in Map Maker, but no big changes otherwise. We are, however, planning to focus on Map Maker in the subsequent release.

Some clarification here. There never was a link. The author of this thread posted a bad link which has a ; at the end of it.The link refers to the Release Notes of the most current product version 8. The v9 features have never been posted in a doc.

The source of this bad url link stems from the post made by Denny, who in his post is referring to customers on v7 to check out the features in v8 (not v9)

Needless to say, Denny will not be getting a bonus this week.;-)
