I am hoping i can use this for our Sonicwall Firewall. Can anyone help me out?
Thanks,
What product are you referring to?
Sorry guys this is for application "Kiwi CatTools"
My questions is
Hi,
I spent quite a considerable time looking at SonicWall firewalls a while back but at the time it was not possible to support them because the only way to get the config from them was via ZModem. Unless they have changed the way they operate we would still not be able to support them. However, if you are away of a way of generating a backup via the CLI then I would be greatly interested to know.

Hello,
I believe this can now be done with SonicOS 5.X. There is now an "export preferences ftp" option that will allow you to export the config to an FTP server inside the LAN. You can also do a multitude of "show" commands to rebuild the config.
I have done a sonicwall SSH session if anyone from Kiwi development team would like to see.
Scott
I would certainly be interested in seeing the session capture to get a feel for what is now possible with these devices. I'll send you an e-mail so you can forward it too me.
I am trying to do the same. I cant seem to get it to work. Any help wouldbe great. I am working on a 4100 PRO. with enhaced os 5.x installed. I tried export preferences ftp but got a error saying extra syntax after command. Please help. Thank you.
Anyone have an update on this - i would be interested is working on this.
Hi all - we are tracking it internally as a feature request.

Christine,
I have finally figure out to make this work using Cat Tools custom scripts. I have a device script and two activity scripts (backup and show tech support Report)
If you would like them to review and maybe add to the product..email me and I can send them to you.

Hi Scott--
If you could, would you post these scripts either here or in the Content Exchange for the benefit of the community?
Thx,
M
See attached..might need some clean up but does work.
I downloaded the script and tested on my Cattools version 3.6, my Cattools activities ran successfully but I cannot find the backup files. maybe my configuration was wrong? I configured the username and password, the FTP username and password and the FTP server ip address for the device. I configured Sonicwall.Device.Backup in the activities. Am I doing something wrong?
Hi thomasliau--
I checked the support logs and found a case where CatTools wasn't saving back-up files. This might help you:
"CatTools runs as a service and services don't see mapped drives. Change path to a UNC (Universal Naming Convention) path and change account assigned to CatTools service." Let me know if this addresses the issue.
Hi M,
Thanks for the reply. Both my FTP server and CatTools reside on the same server so there is no mapped drive.
Bummer. If you are on active maintenance, you can open a support ticket here.
If you open a ticket, please reference this thread and post back here with a case number and any resolution you get.
