I am attempting to clear events for an unmanaged device without deleting this device, is this possible
You should be able to from the Event Monitor.
I can clear all events, however active alerts are still shown under alerts.
With Basic- you need to un-check the box for the alert- Under Configure Basic Alerts-
For an Advanced you would need to Edit the Alert and un-check Enable this Alert box.
The node that has the active alert is unchecked under monitored network objects, the node itself is unmanaged. The alert is still active.
What happens when you acknowledge the alert? or is this stuck in a loop and you need to force a reset>
perhaps my question should be how do I acknowledge an alert
From the website click-> Alerts-> Advanced Alerts-> and select from the list- check - click Acknowledge Alerts
the alerts in question are basic alerts, when I go to advanced alerts and acknowledge I am acknowledging no alerts
appears I was able to resolve my issue in what I believe to be a round about way
I unmanaged the device and removed the device from the monitored object tab in edit alerts. after doing this I had to stop and start the netperfmon and alerting engine services
this is helpful to remove the alert however presents a problem going forward. the devices in question are dual route engine routers where only one is available at a time in the future when one goes down as long as the other comes up shortly there after all is well. Now that I have unmanaged the device I will not know
device is unmanaged to clear the event. the device in question is unreachable. It would become reachable again if the primary engine were to fail or be taken off line. If I manage the device an alert is generated and I have found no way to clear/acknowledge said alert
