Hi,
Im wondering when we will be able to use Orion on Server 2008?
regards
It's scheduled for a future release, but not v9.0.
When is v9.0 due out?
Currently in Beta now - We can't give a precise date, but it's fairly soon.
Ah ok thanks.
Sorry about all the questions but i presume V9.0 will be able to update previous versions?

Ok
Thanks for your help guys.
Have some new blade servers and the sys admins are wondering if we can go forward with a 2008 build or if they need to make a 2003 build for the Orion server. The database is on SQL so it is being set up on 2008 anyway.
I know the official position is that Orion does not have 2008 support yet but will it run on it?
If not I would like to resurface this and ask if there is any indication of how long before it will?
Probably not. There are some major changes between 2003 and 2008 that break Orion. We'll get that support in the first half of 2009.

Denny, I don't suppose 9.1 added support for Server 2008?
No. There are some things in Orion that 2008 breaks, so we're making those adjustments post-9.1. We'll have it in the next release.
...and to anticipate the next post, I don't have a date for the next release yet.
FYI on the 2008 issue. We got some random mixed up call from Carrie (SP?) in support regarding what they thought was a 2008 issue (although I never opened up a case on 2008 -anyway, we were told that there is NO support of 2008 for Orion (not just install server, but including the abilitiy to run SNMP queries against it just for just plain monitoring as a network monitored application). Now I know why our 2008 servers go in an out of connectability all the time!
