I used to have that before too, it was whenever something was re-indexed...
It seems like ever since 9.5.1 this has been fixed for me, it seems to automatically detect that it was re-indexed
Could be a couple things. First it means the volume is in an unknown state. This could be caused by a flaky snmp agent, re-indexing of the volumes, re-imaging of the particular systems. You can use the Solarwinds Toolset SNMP MIB browser to check the iftable MIB on the device. Then look at the IFOper status and the IF Admin status to determine if these values are coming back with out an up or down then Orion will mark these unknown.
Try to unmanage and manage the device to reset this.
I also get the blue question mark (unknown) resources as a relatively common occurance. In the case that SNMP is working is this just a re-index that has taken place?
Also, will these eventually be removed automatically or do I have to manually go through and clean these up?
Somebody... anybody...???
This unknown resource thing is confusing as I don't know the cause for sure and don't know what to do with them.
I am running 9.5.1 and I am still seeing these blue question marks thought I do suspect it could be due to re-indexing.
I have the same problem, yet mine is curious.
The community string has to be correct because some volumes on the same server appear with no question mark, yet some do appear with a question mark. It's very odd.
I upgraded to Version 10.2 this week prior to this I was on version 10.0 and whenever I saw the blue question marks I new something had been changed on the device and I just went on to System Manager and deleted the resource.
This method was quick and easy, I couldn't do it from admin on the browser because the resource didn't show there.
Unfortunately now in version 10.2 some bright spark has got rid of the System Manager function on the server so my question is how do I get rid of the blue question marks and unknown resources without deleting the device altogether and rediscovering it.
you can use the "Manage Nodes"-feature in the web-ui and just delete the volumes/interfaces you want to delete
As per my original post the resources that have the blue question marks don't appear under Manage Nodes thats why I always had to use the System Manager to delete them.
Any one else have this problem in 10.2 or is this something Orion have overlooked, this isn't the first time I have updated Orion and found I have lost features I used.
