I'm not sure if you could create your own geo + network map and layout objects, perhaps nodes, on it. And is this done through the server where the Orion and the Network Atlas are installed?
You can use any image (jpg or gif) file as a background in the network atlas. To build maps you want to have. You can use the Network Atlas from the server, or if you have the option enabled in the website, you can download and install the Network Atlas on your desktop.

Wow! it looks like I needed to contact Orion customer service because when I launch the Network Atlas in the server that it needs login credentials. I don't have credentials for it because I'm new in this organization (one might ask..). Do you normally login to access the Network Atlas?
These credentials would be the same you use to access the Orion website.
I'm using a common access card to login in our system with PIN#
So I would assume that the website is passing your credentials through at that point? What does the login show when you are logged into the Orion website?
With the Orion Website, you mean, the Network Atlas or the Actual Orion Website?
My account is set to Orion Website page each time I launch a browser as an administrator. But on the Network Atlas in the server shows:
on the Login popup window it requires: Login, Password, Address (i.e. localhost), and Connect (with dial option i.e. Orion or EOC). Then a Connect button below it.
The Network Atlas is expecting the same credentials as you would use for the website. If it's an AD account that you know the username and password for, then that's all you need to enter, otherwise, you'd need to use a built-in such as Admin, to get in.

Basically, my project would be real simple: I pick the geographic site of our network and add those green little nodes objects on to each sites to give the up/down status of each sites. So, I will have to figure that out how to make it happen. Ultimately, I wanna be able to look at the map of our network sites and be able to see on the display and see if there's any network that is down. Sounds really simple but I don't know if this can be done.
Yes, it can. Once you are able to login to the Network Atlas, using one of the mentions previously mentioned, you simply need to go and find a jpg or gif image of you location through something like google images. Attached is a capture image of a building from Austin, TX as an example. You just put the image file on your desktop, if you have the Atlas downloaded on your system, or on the server if you are connecting on the server. When you create the new map, choose background and browse to the image and load it. Once it's loaded, you can drag you objects onto the map and save it. This will then make the map available to use on the website.
