Hello,
We want to learn if it is possible to take vm data from the esx on which it is hosted and monitor the vm by this way?
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Ufuk
check the switch "Poll for VMware" and then fill your ESX credential to "VMware Polling Settings".
When you add your ESX or vCenter as node to SAM, with VMWare credential, then you can see all hierarchy of machines which belongs to it.
When you click to any VM in virtualization tree, then Orion asks you, if you want add the machine as node and start to poll HW information.

Thanks tomasv,
I was just looking for this information as well ;-)
Great stuff. Thanks for sharing this info. I too was looking for this info.
Hello tomasv,
Thank you very much. So what I should do is writing the IP of esx in “add node” page which is attached? Is Wmware credential vmmanager(vcenter) user? Where should I write this credential?
Thank you very much.

Thank you very much tomasv. I will try this.
Do you know if it is possible to take lpar data from p-series devices?

Subject: RE: - taking vm data from esx
Orion doesn't support IBM virtualization in the same way as VMware and Hyper-V in this moment
There are some templates shared on Thwack regarding LPAR:
AIX_LPAR-disk
AIX_LPAR_non-disk
And out of box there is one common AIX template - AIX
Hi tomasv,
Is it possible to do the configuration to take vm data from esx by NPM? Or is SAM is necessary for this?
Both SAM and NPM use Virtualization module (VIM) to discover Vmware/Hyper-V nodes.
So if you run NPM and SAM integrated on the same server, it doesn't matter, if you discovery/configure your nodes in NPM or SAM. The information is shared across Orion platform.
I tried the configuration on Esx. I wrote Esx IP and esx credentials, then I pressed Next button. Then the page seen below appeared. The page containing hierarchy of machines didn’t appear. Am I doing something wrong?
Continue and finish creating of the node.
Once node is created, Orion start to poll its information.
Then go to detail page of the node, you shud see hierarchy of VMs, which belongs to it.
