Cirrus v4 and menu interfaces

I saw in the release notes for Cirrus v4 that it now supports indirect config download from menu driven interfaces. I have Nortel Baystack 450s that have a menu interface only and have so far been unable to get this to work. Has anyone else been successful with this? If I can get this to work then I will have all of my network devices being backed up nightly which would be great.

I have my Transfer configs set to TFTP, Execute scripts Telnet and Request configs Telnet. I am getting "Unable to log into router. TImeout Device IP:x.x.x.x"

I believe the Nortel Baystack 450 transfers the config as a binary file, and Cirrus currently only stores text based configs.

Argh! You are right - I forgot about that. Oh well, I guess I will have to continue with my original plans of an expect script. Are there any future plans on supporting binary files?

The main issue is that binary configs are not readable like the text based configs so the support would be limited to backing up the configs. We are evaluating supporting this feature for binary configs in a future release.

Haley...what about Cisco VPN 3030s? The backup file is not binary....it's a flat text file.

The new addition to Cirrus v4.0 is the abiltity to download/upload configs from devices that have a menu-driven interface and transfer the configations as text files via tftp. For these devices, Cirrus would need to be able to transfer the configs via snmp/tftp or telnet/tftp. If the Cisco VPN 3030 meets this criteria, then I recommend creating a ticket at https://forms.netsuite.com/app/site/crm/externalcasepage.nl?compid=638609&formid=12&h=3d0552f20b2e9bd6580b and letting them know that you spoke with me on the forum and that you want to leverage the new feature in Cirrus v4.0 to backup configs indirectly from menu-driven devices. It will also be quite helpful to include screenshots of the login and configuration screens on the device and the commands you enter to be able to download the config.

Another question. I noticed the built-in TFTP server in V4 doesn't run as a service. The verson with Cirrus V4 is 8.2.18. Do we have to download a different version of TFTP that runs as a service?

Cirrus v4.0 should work with the Free or Toolset TFTP servers, each of which run as a service.
