I tried to download running configs from the web gui of NCM and a switch refused the connection. I have verified the login credentials of the NCM on AAA and can login to the switch from the NCM box. SNMP tests successfully. Any ideas?
What did you set as the transfer method? Are you set on a global that may be defaulting to telnet rather than ssh? Have you tried to specify either telnet or ssh?
I use and have specified SSH.
have you tried auto, 1, and 2?
I left the default auto as all other devices have no issues connecting with that setting. I have tried removing and recreating the device in NCM with the same results. All firewall settings seem correct. What am I missing?
I'd recommend using the GUI on the server, edit the node, right-click and validate login information. This will show you what's failing. You can also turn on session tracing and look at the swtelnet log to see how the connection is being made.
It does validate the settings, that is why I am getting irritated with this. Everything is the same on a similar device (settings wise) and there are no issues.
I'd go with looking at the session trace when the config download is attempted. It may be something with the config template being used then. You also may want to open a case with SolarWinds support.
