Just a quick poll to determine thwack user awareness of the SCP Network Management certification. Please let us know if you've heard of the SolarWinds Certified Professional program, and if you're pursuing it.
Thanks!

What about "I know about the cert, but don't have time to pursue alphabet soup"? I chose "studying for it" just because I *am* using the product, after all, but it really doesn't describe where I am. This is approximately the same reason I haven't pursued other certs.
Thanks for the feedback, and I completely understand, time is precious!
Just to clarify though, SCP is not a product cert, but is network management cert. The exam is 2/3 network management skills and 1/3 Orion knowledge.
The SCP Prep Guide provides a decent overview of the objectives along with smple questions.
Hi Thomas,
Thanks for the reply. I'm pretty clear on the purpose of the test, and thank you for the link to the Prep Guide. When/if I have time for the test, that will be a good resource. However, it makes it pretty clear what I'm talking about. There's enough topics in there that don't apply to me, or don't apply yet, that I'd have to spend quite a bit of time that I don't have on information I may never use (not that I don't wish I had time). The first couple of pages of the document include two topics - a protocol-level view of SNMP, and WMI.
If that kind of distinction isn't what you're looking for in your poll, I understand, but I wanted to clarify just in case - interest is not lacking, but time is!
Thanks, any and all feedback helps me better understand the awareness level and opinion of the program.
I appreciate your input
Yeah, I expressed interest when it started, but tbh, I don't have an extra 1 hour a week to study for it. Even my weekends are booked, way too much of it, with work.

Would an official SCP training class offering, designed to teach to the exam objectives, make a difference?
For me, no. I'm not really into the whole "exam cram" style of testing. Given that retention is something like 25% or less, it wouldn't do me much good beyond having pretty pretty alphabet soup. To really retain the material, you either have to use it, or the class would have to be much longer than a couple of days. On the up side, it could focus learning objectives to just those required for the test, significantly reducing study time. Again, just my opinion.
All - there is a new SCP exam prep guide available here.
