help with User Defined Link

I ahve a device on my network that has web admin access. I created a user defined link to that web admin page as a resource on the Node Details view for the device.I used the following:

http://${IP_Address}

but when you click on the link it opens a blank web page. Anyone have an idea what I am doing wrong?

I'm a little confused here.

Isn't there a link to the device's IP address already at the bottom of the Node Details resource?
I'm guessing you're using the Custom HTML resource to try to accomplish this? If so, I'm not sure if variables are accepted in it.

Yes, the IP address is in the Node Details resource, but when I click on it it just launches the node details view again.

I am using the User Defined Link resource. In the past I have used it to provide a link to DellOpenManage (through the appriprit\ate port) on a server as an example. Clicking on the link from the Node Details view opened a browser window with the DellOpenManage login page at the ready on the server. That is what I am trying to do here, but it is not working.

I'm running version 8.5.1 and I have five small icons near the top right of the node details page. One of these icons looks like an arrow and is a link to launch a web browser connection. Do you see these on your node details page? Screen shot is attached.

Ok, I understand. Yeah, I don't think that the User Defined Link resource supports variables. Just tested it with a few different variables and nothing.

That was the bad news. The good news is that I was wrong in my first response, sorta. One of the new features of v9 is the support for variables in the Custom HTML resource. Essentially, you could put the following in your Custom HTML resource.

<a href="http://${IP}" target="_blank">Manage this node</a>

I typed that code in the box, and it does not work. My mouse cursor doesn't have clickable function on the link.

Yes, I m using the custom HTML resource with Orion 9 SP2.

This is strange. I hope the feature wasn't removed in SP2 since the exact same code is working in SP1. Are you able to create a link to any public web sites like Google or Yahoo?
