I am currently on v6.0 of NCM and would like to upgrade to the latest version (7.3.2). Anyone know of any gotchas that I might experience before I pull the trigger? Can I go directly from 6.0 to 7.3.2?
thanks.
Kelly
What version of NPM are you on?
Check out the NCM upgrade path in this document.

I'm currently on v10.7 of NPM, but I am currently on a standalone NCM. I was planning to upgrade to a single server NCM and do the integration with NPM later.
If I am reading the document correctly, I need to upgrade to v6.1, then 7.1, 7.2 and 7.3?
Sorry, this is my first upgrade and I want to make sure that I'm doing it correctly.
Hi Kelly Brown,
Have you considered upgrading NPM to the newest version (currently 11.0.1) and then installing NCM 7.3.2 on the same machine?
Maybe it would require less effort in total than a complicated upgrade path.

Jiri
I had considered that, but was leery that my current NCM data might get lost. If that is an easier path and I can preserve my data, that might be the way to go.
Thanks.
If you want to preserve your data then you must follow the upgrade path. What kind of data are you specifically talking about? Maybe we can think of some compromise.
Our main use of NCM is for network device config backup and for config change history. That would be the type of data we would want to preserve.
Ok, then you have to follow the upgrade path.
How did the upgrade go? We are currently on NCM 7.0.2 with NCM and NPM on separate servers but integrated. Sounds like my upgrade will be similar to yours and was curious if you ran into any issues.
No issues at all.
Solarwinds dev group really thought about this thoroughly to make the upgrade smoooooooth. much props to dev team!
