Another Request -- Interface IP Address

I'd really like to be able to see the IP address of each router interface it helps in troubleshooting a down link.

I started using Solarwinds IP Network browser about 4 years ago. At the time it was amazing (and still is) as it could pull so much info from any snmp enabled device such as route tables, IP addresses of interfaces, running services etc. Can this technology not simply be ported across to Orion?

One workaround is to create a Visio drawing of your network
with callouts with the IP address of each interface.
Save this as a JPG & import this with the Mapmaker app.
Then just drag and drop the icon for each interface onto this
map, and now you have an interactive drawing along with the IP's
and any other info required (Ip subnets, Area's, routing protocols,
etc.

Not really. Orion is monitoring the management IP you choose for your devices. It's not designed to "inventory" per say all the router IPs in a particular box. That's why they created Cirrus as a companion tool. It has the inventory piece, etc.

I understand what you are saying, but I dont know if it makes sense.. I can dig into the interface details which shows all sorts of information, bandwidth, errors etc.. The only thing it doesnt show is the ip address. I cannot imagine buying an addon just for that 1 thing. Am I crazy here?

In the NPM Monitor - Click on View-> New View and then select IP addresses

I gave this a shot but it didn't produce the results that I think cmccarter was looking for. I have 24 interfaces on one of my routers, but Mark's recommendation only shows the node's managed/monitored IP address that is defined in System Manager. The other 23 interface IP addresses are absent from the list.

Would it be possible to have the custom MIB poller grab the interface IP addresses and add that to the Interfaces table in the DB for the given InterfaceID? I've thought about doing this, but haven't gotten to that point yet.

Why don't you put the IP in the description on the router interface? Orion will pull the description field and then you will have that information.

It's not possible because i use the Descrition to another information, such was my internal circuit reference and other things

I can't believe this hasn’t been added yet and it seems like the topic has just been dropped. I haven’t been able to find anything on it within the last year.

Not sure if this will help anyone but I wrote a SQL query to get the data needed for IP addresses. Note that I have a unique identifier for the interfaces I care about returning the IP address back. Use the "1.3.6.1.2..4.20.1.2" OID so that you can extract the index # off the router as 'Status' and the RowID on the CustomPollerStatus table will be the IP address of that Index #. Enjoy.
