folks,
how come when 3 of my switches were rebooted due to a site power outage did I only get a "warning" message instead of "down"? They were only down for around 30 minutes.
thanks
Dave
Can anyone please help?
I don't think there's enough info. Was it an advanced alert? If so, could you post your alert?
the alert is an advanced alert, I've also noticed that the device doesn't have an "Event" of down, but it does state it has 100% packet loss for one poll which is when the alert was triggered.
Dave,
In your original post you state that you rebooted the switch and it was only down for around 30 minutes. Did you mean 30 seconds?
Sorry for the confusion, the chart above does state around 30 seconds, but we are getting devices out for about 30 minutes and still showing as "Warning".
I think it's your trigger...
You are alerting on Node Status is not equal to UP, so the alert will be sent on anything not equal to up.
Before a node goes Down, it enters a Warning status, that's what the alert triggered on and once it triggered it won't trigger again until after it resets. You could have two alerts one for Warning and one for Down.
I hope this helps.
