Im just looking to see if people will chime in with their experience with this update. After my experience with the 8.5 update im a little gun shy. Is this going smoothly for everyone?
Thanks!
J
we have one issue, the orion website keeps crashing. it looks like when it tries to refresh it will time out, bring down the website and gives you an error.
I did the upgrade yesterday from version 8.5 + SP1 + SP2 -> 8.5.1. So far, I've detected no problems, all apps are running fine
Same here. I went from 8.5 with all the hotfixes to 8.5.1. I had 4 pollers and 1 slx server to upgrade and all of them went smoothly. My VoIP Monitor looks good still and the site is stable and functioning.BB
what platform were you running when you did the upgrade?
we were running 2000 server, upgraded to 2003 and then did the Orion upgrade.
everything works correctly, we just get the time out issue. any ideas why?
We just upgraded 3 pollers, VoIP module, Netflow Module, Application Monitor and the Additional web server with fairly minimal pain.
Three problems only:
1. ICMP packet size (already solved in another thread)
2. VoIP web page errors on the additional web server (works OK on the primary - so I can live with it for a few days).
3. Seem to have broken the Application Monitor web pages (KeyNotFoundException) - there was no 8.5.1 release available for this component, maybe a compatibiity issue.
All fairly minor issues (tickets open for the last 2) - core features seem to be solid.
Dave.
Well I've been running V8.5.1 for a couple of weeks on my SL2000 server.
I have a few comments regarding the look and feel and consistency of this version:
The Admin section allows customization of Orion's Web Site. You can completely change the look and feel of Orion's website to suit your company's needs.
Each Network Performance Monitor View can be customized
Overall the actual upgrade was not too painful, other than struggling for several weeks to upgrade my server to DotNetFX 3.0.(I finally had to remove it from the domain to get Windows Update to work and then have an admin add it back to the domain).
I also had some issues with my Webpage initially, caused by having Shared Memory enabled on the SQLExpress 2005 server.(took a few days to figure this one out).
