Upgrade from 9.0 SP2 to 9.1 issue

One change that is casuing me some issues is that with one interface down on a map the status upper level map is now down and red. Before the upgrade the status was yellow on the upper map not red? Is there a setting to fix this?

This change was by design. We are now bubbling up the worst status. This was a long-standing request. Is this a problem? If so, can you give me details?

Yes on the traning side, we will need to retrain our NOC staff. An example of why we liked it the old way is that we have many interfaces we are monitoring at our locations. There are times that things are off line for periods of time like an AP taken down for construction, and that in the past had shown yellow on the map not red.

If it's something on a sub-map, you can control how things on a submap are rolled up.

I have not updated from 9.0 SP2 to the new 9.1 yet, but withthis change mentioned it may cause some confusion for me. Let me know if I’mreading this wrong.

I have a USmap with sub maps on it, the sub maps are Visio drawings of the site , All the sites have 2 WAN connections . In the past if 1 was down but site was stillup it would show yellow and if both were down and site was down hard it wouldshow red.

Will it now be showing red even if the backup circuit isstill up, and site still up?

So this is what I have a US map with 20 items on it showing the status of the submaps. The submap has 54 items display on the map ranging from PBX's, core siwtches, access siwtches, tape drive, servers. On one switch out in and IDF (what we call and access switch) that I a port monitored that has a Cisco LWAP AP attached. The AP was taken down due to contruction and that port is showing red. Now the item on the US map is showing red, the day before the upgrade it had showed yellow. With all that being said someone posted that I can control how item roll up on the submaps to the status above. I have not looked into this yet.

Is it only me or nobody else has noticed this .

Since the time i have upgraded from 9.0 SP2 to 9.1 i am unable to record the CPU on any of the cisco device.

I have even raised the ticket with the support team

i have SNMPv3authPriv configured for my cisco devices

I personally think this is a bad decision without giving the option of choosing which behavior is allowed. In my network we monitor devices at over 140 sites across the globe, so obviously it is very likely that a minor switch will be down at any given point. What good is a geographical map with all red at the highest level when upper management walks in the door of the NOC?

All I can find is that you can choose what percentage of items have to be up to be considered "green."

Are there other options?
