I've been trying to setup a couple of the above monitors only for it to error saying The remote device is using a certificate with a common name not matching the host name used to connect.
How can I get round this error?
Thanks
Jon
Hi Jon,
Normally I would associate this error with HTTPS monitors. The solution in that case is to check "Allow SSL certificates to have a different Common Name than Host Name" or change the "IP Address / Domain Name" field of the monitor to match the common name of the pages certificate.
Can you confirm that it is not the HTTPS monitors that are giving you this error?
Thanks!
Matt
I've tried adding www.cisco.com and www.google.com and get the same error for both, these both work if I use the lightweight http monitor but not the user experience monitor.
Would you be able to post a screen cap of a failing monitor's config as I presume these are public URL's? Or perhaps you could post what you have for the "Test Parameters" section in the monitor config.
Thanks,
Yes, they're public URL's.
I've been attempting to replicate this behavior to no avail. At this point I would like to have a look at a packet capture of the request from ipMonitor and the response from the public web site. In order to do this, can you possibly open a case using the following page:
http://www.solarwinds.com/support/ticket
Once the case has been submitted, you will receive an email confirming receipt of your request. Simply reply to this email with the packet capture file. You can use a program such as Ethereal or Wireshark to capture the packets coming in and going out of the ipMonitor network interface.
Thank you in advance for this,

Will do, could you send me over the link to the upload site as the file will probably be quite big as its on the same server as NPM.
