I would like to find out if there are mibs for Orion NPM v9.5 to monitor ADVA Optical equipment?
If it has an SNMP agent we can monitor it using Universal Device Pollers.
How would i go about doing that?
Also I found the following info
http://www.oidview.com/mibs/2544/METRO1500-MIB.html
I have never monitored a non-cisco device. How would i go about adding this mibs to the system.
You don't have to add the MIB to the system. UnDP will poll the OID from the device agent and create a custom poller. The Orion NPM Admin Guide has this well documented.

inekam,
Here's a direct link to the online doc:
"Monitoring MIBs with Universal Device Pollers" in the Orion NPM Administrator Guide.
Sorry for the long delay but i finally got the tool setup and added all the devices. I am able to poll the device status but i am running into issues. I am not able to poll the interface itself for errors or utilization. So i reached out to the Adva and they provided there mibs. Now how do i got about importing them into Solarwinds and configuring the device to use them. I see in the link that you provided it talks about the universal device poller and how to do one mib at a time but not on how to import all the mibs at one time.
Thanks for your help
I have discovered that some/most Adva Optical equipment (or at least the FSP3000R7 under OS 9.2.2) has only very limited support for the standard Interfaces MIB. Only the following OIDs from the ifTable are supported:
ifTable
ifIndex
ifDescr
ifType
ifPhysAddress
ifAdminStatus
ifOperStatus
All other OIDs are non-responsive. I am working with the Vendor to identify OIDs in their Private MIBs that will provide the missing data; but so far have not had a success.
We might be getting some of these at work -- any tips/pointers for managing them?
thanks
I know it has been many years since this post, and I am hoping there has been progress on the MIBs for ADVAs? We have them here, and our Solarwinds NPM 12.3, with nearly the newest MIB.cfg file, does not see the traffic rate for any of the interfaces.
We are going to reach out to ADVA as well.

JoeP
