Is there a way to count the nodes in a report and put the total count in the header? or footer?
With the new web-based reports in 10.6 you can summarize table information to produce a row count. EX:

When looking at this report, I need to know how many row’s there are. So, that at a glance, you would know if all the nodes have been included in the report. (I have not finished adding all the nodes yet, but there should be approx. 110 or so…
Got it- that would be difficult to do within the construct of the old report writer without resorting to custom SQL, and one of the reasons why we made sure to have multiple resources available in new reports in 10.6. If you have a maintenance window to upgrade in the near future, it would definitely make your life easier.
