Hi Team,
I am in a strange situation where my requirement is to add a device to NCM for taking the backup of the configuration but i dont need that device under NPM. Is there any way to do ?
Can someone help me here on a urgent basis !!!!!!!
Hi,
Your situation may have different resolutions based on what you exactly mean by 'I don't need that device under NPM'. Are you saying you don't need to poll that device for status?
Regards,
Jiri
Hi Jiri,
I have a set of network devices for which i only needed configuration back up to be taken. I dont need Performance or Availability polling for them
As long as NCM is part of the NPM- a node has to exist on NPM for NCM to use. Unless you plan on installing NCM as a standalone on another server, I don't think there is a way to separate this.
However, you can add a node to NPM as external node which doesn't have any polling and still add it to NCM.
That's true, but an external node has limitations in NCM -- there's no SNMP communication, and therefore no inventory data and SNMP-triggered config download.
Another option would be to manually "unmanage" the node in NPM.
Just to add to the above comment,
If you unmanage the node, you wont be able to run scripts.

As a workaround, dev have suggested that we manage the node in CORE but set Default Node Poll Interval to max value (32760 seconds)
So we collect very little information but have full access to the Node.
